DAPHNE, Ala. — Christ the King Catholic School will hold its annual Pumpkin Festival from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday on the playground, which is located on Main Street.
The festival will include 14 carnival games, a dunking booth and a bake sale, according to organizers.
“It’s a safe place for the children to run around and wreak havoc,” Lisa McDuff, the school’s guidance counselor, said.
“It’s a community event and we want everyone to come out because it’s such a tradition,” said Ruth Rutkowski, the school’s public liaison and director of development.
Throughout the festival, eighth-graders will dress up as saints. Students will have to try to tell adults something new about the saint. When the adult learns something new, they can sign the back of the saint’s identity card.
At about 3 p.m. some of the seventh- and eighth-grade female students will perform the dance from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” McDuff said.
The pumpkin festival is one of the school’s main fundraisers, according to McDuff.
Admission to the festival is free but a $10 wristband can be purchased for unlimited access to most games.
A raffle will also be held. They will raffle off an iPod Nano and a grand prize of $250.
Christ the King Catholic School is located at 1503 Main St. For more information call 626-1692.
