SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Providence United Methodist Church will hold a four-week Wednesday night series on the Reformation, led by Robert Wermuth.

“Why study the Reformation? Its consequences are still with us today,” said Wermuth, a member of Providence UMC and retired University of South Alabama professor.

The series will deal with basic questions including the causes and impact of the Protestant Reformation, as well as the major reformers and their teachings. It will be held during the church's Mid-Week study on Oct. 29, Nov. 12 and 19, and Dec. 3 from 6 to 7 p.m., following the Wednesday night supper from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

Mid-Week is held each Wednesday at the current worship center at 9543 Stagecoach Road in Spanish Fort. Mid-Week includes a family fellowship meal, children’s activities and choir practice, youth “reCharge” study, adult study and adult choir practice.

Dinner is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four or more. Reservations should be made each week the Monday prior to the event by calling 929-2832 or e-mailing delaineseamon@bellsouth.net.

The Rev. Bob Sweet is pastor of the church, which is building a new sanctuary on Highway 181 near Spanish Fort  High School.
