Prostate cancer support group to meet June 5

FOLEY, Ala. — The Bill Sykes USTOO Prostate Cancer Support Group will hold its quarterly meeting on Thursday, June 5, in the cafeteria at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Support Group meets on the first Thursday in March, June, September and December, according to Fred Burkle, who is chairman of the Bill Sykes USTOO Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Burkle is a 14-year survivor of prostate cancer and a member of the Support Group since “day one,” he said.

“The Prostate Cancer Support Group is very important to an individual that has been recently diagnosed or has an interest in the group for their well-being and healing,” said Burkle.

“It’s important to have a spouse involved with the individual who comes to the Support Group. Spouses are always welcome.”

Dr. Bill Hixson is the Support Group sponsor.

The guest speaker for the June 5 meeting will be from the Dietary Department at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.

Refreshments will be served.
