SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Prodisee Pantry has received a $5,000 grant from the Sempra Energy Foundation to continue its mission of feeding families in need across Baldwin County.

The emergency food and assistance agency was among 114 nonprofit organizations in both California and along the Gulf Coast to receive funds through the foundation’s “People in Need” program.

Sempra is the parent company of Mobile Gas Services Corp.

“These funds will help the pantry fight hunger on a physical, emotional and spiritual level,” said Deann Servos, the pantry’s executive director.

Servos said “families in crisis” across Baldwin County made a total of 9,073 visits to the Spanish Fort-based agency in 2010.

LaBarron McClendon, vice president of marketing and community affairs for Mobile Gas, presented the donation to Servos.

“We are pleased to be able to provide help through our financial support and through the tireless efforts of the employees of the Sempra Energy companies, who volunteer their time to many community organizations,” said G. Joyce Rowland, president of Sempra Energy Foundation, in a prepared statement.
