DAPHNE, Ala. — Sgt. Robin Snider is a teacher to the core, but his commitment to instilling civic responsibility and awareness in youth knows no geographic boundaries.
Snider, who oversees the Drug Abuse Resistance Education for the Daphne Police Department in addition to statewide duties, traveled in May to Ukraine to teach the “Play by the Rules” cooperative system during a professional development trip.
The program, which stresses the importance of shared experiences between students and law-enforcement officers, was developed in 2001 by the Alabama Center for Law and Civic Education, and Snider said he was tapped to be part of a team spearheaded by Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
“It was a wonderful experience,” Snider said, expressing interest in a return trip next year if the grant funding and invitation are renewed.
