ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Robertsdale Police are investigating a homicide that took place over the holiday weekend.

Robertsdale Assistant Chief Brian Middleton said a family member discovered the body of Calvin Vincent Williams, 38, at his home in Robertsdale on Sunday, July 4.

Few details are being released at this time because of the ongoing investigation in the case, Middleton said.

There was no sign of forced entry, he said, and no suspects have been arrested.

Middleton would not comment on the nature of the fatality. He would also not comment on whether drugs were involved.

“If you go to the county corrections website, you will find that Mr. Williams had an extensive record,” Middleton said. “I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.”

A check of the website revealed that Williams had a record of 18 arrests, dating back to 1993, including 14 felony drug arrests. The last arrest, on Dec. 15, 2009, was listed as a traffic violation and a misdemeanor fugitive from justice charge.

Williams’ last drug-related arrest listed on the website came in August of 2006.

Middleton said it has been over 16 years since there has been a homicide investigated by the department, confirming the previous investigation involved the stabbing death of Jeffrey Norris, 33, of Loxley at a local service station on Christmas Day 1993.
