Police impersonator sought

SPANISH FORT, Ala.— The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible police impersonation incident that took place on U.S. Highway 31 near Stagecoach Road in the early evening hours on Tuesday.

A female was stopped by what she believes to be a light colored, sports car or possibly a Dodge Charger displaying a revolving blue light on the dashboard. A clean-cut white male approached the victim’s car and asked her to exit the vehicle. The victim was uncomfortable with the situation because the man had no badge or id.

The woman asked the man to follow her to a safe location. She pulled off and he followed a short time but left. The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t believe the man was a law enforcement officer on duty, or that the woman had been stopped by an emergency vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case.  The Sheriff’s Office would ask anyone who is stopped by an unmarked vehicle to use caution and ask for identification from the officer.

If anyone has been stopped by a vehicle like this, we would ask you to contact the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
