FAIRHOPE, Ala. — A 42-year-old man was found dead Sunday outside a business south of town.
The white male, identified by the Fairhope Police Department as Gerry Lee Schwartz, had sustained numerous stab wounds, according to the police report. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native was employed by Creative Iron Works and lived in a boat parked in the yard behind the business, which is located on U.S. Highway 98 in Barnwell (outside the city limits but within the FPD jurisdiction).
He was last seen alive Saturday afternoon by a store clerk, police state. On Sunday, about 4:45 p.m., a friend came to visit the victim, discovered the body and called emergency services.
While the victim was originally from Indiana, the police state he moved to Fairhope about a year ago from Florida.
