Matthew “Mutt” Plovanich, 82, a native and resident of Rabun , died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007 at North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy and was a retired office clerk with Pensacola Naval Air Station.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria A. Plovanich.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Plovanich and George (Eileen) Plovanich, both of Rabun; daughter, Jo Ann (Don) Bryars of Rabun; and two grandchildren, Danny Mitchel Little II and Shannon Marie Plovanich.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at the Perdido Church of God with the Rev. Scott Brooks and the Rev. Thursia Long officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars-McGill Cemetery in Perdido. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guards.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Whidbee, Darrell McDowell, Wendell Hall, James Blackmon, Darwin Earls and Billy Mosley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rabun Volunteer Fire Department and Frank Klasnich.
