Diane Plettner of Gulf Shores died Saturday, May 19, 2007 after a brief struggle with cancer.
She was born May 3, 1930 in Kenosha, Wis., to Beatrice and Ralph Martin. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Plettner, on July 25, 1953 in Milwaukee. He was the great love of her life and she was his rock throughout their 54 years of life together.
She lived a full and spirit-filled life. She was a homemaker extraordinaire and devoted mother. Her greatest joys were spending time with her husband, her extended family, and many friends. She never met a person she didn’t enjoy.
She walked a life of Christian love and shared this with her special smile. God’s light was present in her each and everyday. She was a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Gulf Shores and of the Order of St. Luke.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Martin Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Plettner; son, Mark (Kathleen) McCullough of Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Rose Gooding (Michael) Robinson of Bettendorf, Iowa; two brothers, Michael (Jeanne) Martin of Big Canoe, Ga., and Tom (Hazel) Martin of Sun City, Fla.; six grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and visitation was held Wednesday, May 23 at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Gulf Shores.
