GULF SHORES, AL – A first-time art even is coming to Gulf Shores on Nov. 3.
The public is invited to a painting demonstration and a reception from 6-9 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Cultural Center on County Road 6. Eight of the approximately 70 artists from Alabama and surrounding states will demonstrate their painting techniques. Visitors can go from one artist to another to observe, as all demonstrations will be going on at the same time.
What began as a small event involving only members of the Alabama Plein Air Artists (APAA) has grown to include nearly 70 artists from several states who will be painting outside at sites all over Gulf Shores and Bon Secour.
At the conclusion of their Paint Out, the artists will gather on Nov. 5 at 225 E. 24th Ave. in the Waterway Village of Gulf Shores to perform a “Quick Draw”, which is a timed two-hour painting session. Their paintings will then line the sidewalks of Waterway Village and will be offered for sale to the public.
This is an opportunity to purchase fine oil and other media art from some of the most noted artists in the Southeast at very reasonable prices. The APAA host, Craig Reynolds, has recommended that all artists price their paintings at $300 or below.
The works of many of these artists would normally be priced in the thousands. If you are so inclined, please use a search or check the websites of some of the more prominent artists:

The success and growth of this event, which is an Alabama Plein Air Artists’ event, hosted by local member, Craig Reynolds, and sponsored by the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance, depends upon public participation and purchase of the works of these artists. We encourage you to come witness the Paint Out, and if possible, make a purchase for your home or office.
