The road to the state championship rolls on, with four Baldwin County teams still chasing Blue Map glory as Round 2 kicks off.
Here is a quick look into each program’s matchup:
7A: Daphne (9-2) vs. Auburn (9-2)
The Trojans are coming off a statement win on the road in Round 1 over Sparkman, routing the Senators 43-14. Now, they return home to host the Auburn Tigers — and no, not the ones from the SEC. The Tigers are a consistent powerhouse program, coming into Jubilee Stadium as the No. 4-ranked team in the state per MaxPreps and off the back of a 52-41 win over a very good Vestavia Hills team.
7A: Fairhope (8-3) vs. Central-Phenix City (10-1)
Much like their 7A Region 1 rivals, the Pirates are coming back to the Eastern Shore with a Round 1 road win. Fairhope took down James Clemens 31-21 last week and will now host the Central-Phenix City Red Devils. The Red Devils took down another 7A powerhouse in Hoover in Round 1 and have only lost one game this season — to the prestigious IMG Academy.
4A: St. Michael (11-0) at Pleasant Grove (6-4)
Noah Moss propelled the Cardinals to a 49-21 win over Pike County in Round 1, breaking a 4A rushing record with 368 yards and scoring six of the team’s seven touchdowns. Now, St. Michael puts its undefeated record to the test at Pleasant Grove, a place they’ve become familiar with over the years. The Spartans are coming off a Round 1 win over Booker T. Washington and ride a four-game win streak into the clash with the Cardinals.
3A: Bayside (10-1) at Randolph County (9-2)
The Admirals look to tie the program record for single-season wins on the road after taking down Houston Academy at Freedom Field last week. This will be the first time Bayside has ever matched up with Randolph County. Much like the Admirals, the Tigers ride a win streak into the game after a 51-point performance in their Round 1 win over Thorsby.
Kickoff for all four Round 2 matchups is tentatively scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m..
