On Jan. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Orange Beach Library, photographer and educator Dorie Parsons will share tips for creating better photographs in unfamiliar conditions.
Dorie Parsons received her bachelor of fine arts and master of art education degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va.. She taught students in grades kindergarten through graduate school for 34 years. After teaching in Virginia, Dorie joined the U. S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and taught on U. S. military bases overseas for 30 years. She is currently teaching art and digital photography classes at the Orange Beach Arts Center.
Ms. Parsons’ photography has been published and exhibited in several countries. Recent awards include two first-place ribbons from Outdoor Alabama Magazine and three first-place ribbons from the Weeks Bay Refuge. She resides in Orange Beach when not at sea teaching digital photography and image editing for HighSeas Computer Services on Celebrity, Holland America, and Oceania cruise ships.
