FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Page & Palette will welcome author Eric Litwin and illustrator James Dean on Saturday during the upcoming Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival. They will sign their children’s book, “Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes,” recently purchased by Harper Collins.

Litwin and Dean visited several area schools on Friday to read and perform “I Love My White Shoes,“ the whimsical song that accompanies this popular book.

Pete the Cat goes walking down the street wearing his brand new white shoes. Along the way, his shoes change from white to red to blue to brown to wet as he steps in piles of strawberries, blueberries and other big messes.

But no matter what color his shoes are, Pete keeps movin’ and groovin' and singing his song … because it’s all good.

“Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes” is the first picture book by this author/illustrator team. It has been a breakout success, generating buzz in bookstores and schools across the country. Its simple enduring message and marvelous illustrations resonate with children of all ages.

As part of the Arts & Crafts Festival, Dean will display his Pete the Cat artwork at Page & Palette.
