A juvenile student who arrived at school with bruising prompted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of 36-year-old Dustin Nall of Perdido, Alabama.

Nall became the focus of an investigation after a juvenile student reported to a local elementary school with significant bruising on her face, back and other parts of her body. A School Resource Officer (SRO) from Baldwin County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) was alerted and initiated an investigation. The SRO determined that Nall was responsible for assaulting the child.

Along with the BCSO investigators, the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center conducted a forensic interview.

According to a BCSO press release, the investigation revealed the juvenile victim was pushed against a wall, kicked, slapped, punched and struck with a belt in various locations.

Nall was initially arrested on charges of domestic violence (assault) in the third degree on Tuesday, Nov. 7, but the additional information obtained led to upgraded charges. On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Nall was charged with willful abuse of a child which is a Class C felony.

The investigation was a coordinated effort involving not only the SRO, BCSO and the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center, but also the school staff.

According to BCSO, the juvenile in this case is now in a safe environment.
