Percy Bryars Cox Sr., 86, born in Stockton to M.D. and Candis Bryars Cox, died Friday Aug. 2, 2013 at his residence in Little River.
Mr. Cox was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII.
After the war he became a full time dairyman for 58 years, until 2005. He was a member of Baldwin Lodge No. 142 in Stockton.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edith Catrett Cox; two sons, Percy “Bud” (Leslie Taylor) Cox Jr. and George Keith (Rhonda Childress) Cox, all of Little River; grandchildren, Matthew Taylor and Ashley (Wilkins) Cox, Little River, Candis Cox (Jeff) Keesee, Birmingham, Suzanne Cox (Bruce) White, Excel, Ala. and Allison Cox, Little River; great-grandchildren, Sage and Addison Keesee, Madelyn Rae Cox, and Bryars and Lane White; brother, R.L. “Dick” Cox Sr., Stockton; sister, Janice (Randolph) McGowan, Stockton; sister-in-law, Lillie Mason Cox, Stockton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday Aug. 5, 2013, at 10 a.m., at the Stockton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marg Perelli officiating. Burial will follow at Richerson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, from 3 until 6 p.m., at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cabaniss, Nevin Cox, Michael Huggins, Jeff Keesee, Bruce White and Jimmy Young.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil D. Cox Jr., Davis Arrowsmith, Richard Cox, Ronald “Sam” Cox, Dallas Cushion and Marsden Cox.
