Richard J. Peacock, 90, longtime resident of Setauket, N.Y., and a resident of Fairhope, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in Mobile.
He retired in 1989 from AIL on Long Island, N.Y., after 30 years of service. He was a lifelong amateur radio operator, active member of the South Baldwin Amateur Radio Club, a member of the American Radio Relay League and on the DCXX Honor roll. He was an active DX Chaser and a true inspiration to every amateur radio operator who knew him.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Vera Peacock of Fairhope; two daughters, Susan Carver of Palatine, Ill., Karen Marsman of Niles, Mich.; son, Jeff Peacock of Silvana, Wash.; sister, Marjorie Bird of Lowville, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Christopher Carver of Aurora, Ill., Steven Carver of Fox Lake, Ill., Ann Carver of Rock Island, Ill., Rachel Peacock and Rich Peacock, both of Washington state; four great-grandchildren, numerous other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, from the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
