ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — The Central Christian Saints defeated Lighthouse Private Christian Academy 59-7 for the 2016-17 Panhandle Christian Conference’s West Division Championship Saturday.

The win was the ninth-consecutive West Regional Championship for the Lady Saints who will now be going for their eighth conference title under head coach Michael Turner.

“The girls came together and worked really hard getting ready for this tournament,” he said. “We started out the season rocky, going 0-5 after losing five seniors last year, but about midseason they turned it around and I think we‘ve won eight of the last 10.

“I kept telling them it’s not how we start, it’s how we end. They just kept working and getting better and better. It was a challenge and I’m just so proud of how they took it on this season.”

Regional MVP Taylor Lisenby led the Saints with a game-high 17 points while Kristi Dickinson finished with 12 points. Brynn Atwell, Brittany Pulley and Hannah Shelton added seven each, Kelly McMaster scored six and S Bell had three. KD Butts led LCS with three points.

The 2017 PCC Basketball Final Four Championship at Calvary Christian in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., begins Friday, Feb. 10 with the championship and consolation games on Saturday.

In the boys PCC West Regional semifinals Central Christian fell by three points to Lighthouse while Bayshore Christian lost to S.L. Jones.
