FAIRHOPE— Dogs are preparing to walk the red carpet, not for fame, but for love.

The Haven, a leading no-kill animal shelter, is hosting a pet adoption event March 15 and 17 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Greer's Market parking lot in Fairhope.

During this event, The Haven will showcase different dogs in hopes that they find their forever home, by walking these furry friends down a red carpet.

Office Manager at The Haven Kasey Cotton said this event has been hosted for many years and the support from the community helps make this event possible.

"Every year, we roll out the red carpet and we change the theme," Cotton said. "This event really does really good for us. We bring about six to eight dogs and almost all of them get adopted."

If one decides they want to take one of these furry friends' home, one must complete and application and a fee of $175 is required. This covers a spay, neuter, microchip, heart worm and flea treatment and ensures that the dog is up to date on vaccines.

Cotton added that events like this allow dogs to interact with others.

"It is important to us that the community supports us, and it allows our dogs to engage and interact with them (the community)," she said. "It allows them to interact and engage in a way that they normally don't get to."
