Paul V. Hankins

Paul V. Hankins, born March 20, 1937 in Fairhope, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010.

He was a member of the prominent Hankins family whose roots are firmly planted in the Historic Twin Beech Community. He was a generous, gifted, talented musician, recording artist and an entrepreneur. He rendered his services to many churches near and far.

His early education started at Anna T. Jeans School.

He furthered his education at the Baldwin County Training School.

He later relocated to Chicago, where he met his wife, Edith Hankins.

While in Chicago, he opened his first record business. Years later, he and his family relocated back to Fairhope where he opened his second record business and established a furniture business as well.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Twin Beech A.M.E. Zion Church where he served faithfully by playing the organ and piano. He was dedicated and committed to serving whenever he was asked.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Henry L. and Lois Hankins; his wife, Edith L. Hankins; other aunts and uncles.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Curtis, Paula (Cozy) Brown, and Deloris Miles; six sons, Donnie Parnell, Vernon (Trina) Hankins, Paul (Jeanine) Hankins, Samuel Hankins, Paul Anthony (Karen) McWhorter, and Vanius (Tei) McWhorter; one aunt, Annie Lee Harris; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.
