Patricia “Pat” Louise Bartlett Stone

Patricia “Pat” Louise Bartlett Stone, age 89, of Birmingham, Ala., passed away on March 3, 2016 at her residence. She was born on July 22, 1926 in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of William Lawson Bartlett and Ruth Clark Bartlett.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Norborne (“Bazoo”) Clarke Stone Jr.

After graduating from Ramsey High School in Birmingham, Ala., she attended the University of Alabama in 1946, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Following their marriage on Aug.28, 1948 in Garden City, N.Y., Pat and Norborne resided in Bay Minette, Ala. for over 59 years before moving to Spanish Fort in 2007.

While living in Bay Minette, Pat was an active member of the community, serving as Girl Scout leader, executive director of the North Baldwin United Way and as an organizer for The Benefit Shop that supports the North Baldwin Ecumenical Association.

In 1997, she received the Harry S. Still Sr. Community Service Award from the Bay Minette Area Chamber of Commerce. Together, Pat and Norborne were honored as “Citizens of the Year” by the City of Bay Minette.

Pat is survived by her sister, Suzanne “Sue” B. Greason of Petaluma, Calif.; and by six children, Nancy Crunkleton (Richard), Huntsville, Ala., Louise Wright (Jimmie), Birmingham, Ala., Elizabeth Clark Stone, Nashville, Tenn., Norborne (“Chip”) C. Stone III (Elizabeth), Fairhope, Ala., Anne Sumblin (Andy), Kinston, Ala. and Patricia Downs Stone, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and by 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family extends its gratitude to the caring staff of St. Martin’s in the Pines.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Episcopal Church, 700 McMillan Ave., Bay Minette, Ala., with the Rev. Albert Kennington presiding.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Parish Hall of Immanuel Episcopal Church.
