Patricia “Pat” Ann Woods Howlett, 80, died Oct. 2, 2013 at her home in Foley.
Mrs. Howlett was born Feb. 17, 1933 to Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Woods in Des Moines, Iowa.
She graduated from North High of Des Moines in 1951. That same year, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and proudly served her country.
In 1974, she relocated to Foley, and was married to Joseph F. Howlett Dec. 24, 1974.
For 16 years, she worked for the state of Alabama Mental Hospital, attending to the needs of her patients. She retired in 1990, and in 1993 continued her service as a caregiver to her ailing husband, Joe, until his passing on Nov. 17, 2005.
She enjoyed a quiet life with her dog PJ (for Pat and Joe) until her passing.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Murrell; her three sons, Joe, Kurt and Mark Alexander; as well as three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed.
A service was held at Pine Rest Funeral Home, and she will rest next to her late husband, Joseph F. Howlett, at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
