James Wesley Pate, 81, of Foley, died Saturday, May 5, 2007 at his residence.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He retired from civil service as a machinist at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. He was an active member of the Foley Lions Club, a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Pate of Foley; two sons, Wesley E. Pate of Hubert, N.C., and James D. Pate of Foley; three daughters, Ellen Swain of Gatesville, Texas, Brenda Pierce of Colorado and Teresa Rich of Robertsdale; two brothers, Howard Pate of Chunky, Miss., and Lamound Pate of Silverhill; sister, Ruby Fay Brewer of Lucedale, Miss.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation, followed by funeral services with military honors were held Wednesday, May 9 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. Burial followed at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
