UPDATE (Oct 1.): Parlor Doughnuts is set to open in Fairhope this weekend on Oct. 4.

Original Article: Parlor Doughnuts is opening a new location in Fairhope.

Folks driving downtown may have noticed the ongoing construction for a new storefront located at 51 S. Church St., which is where establishments such as Cafe Viola used to reside. According to their team, the new business will open sooner rather than later.

It will be the second Parlor Doughnuts to open in Baldwin County. The establishment opened a location in Gulf Shores last year, located at 600 Gulf Shores Parkway.

According to Kata Kuch, who manages the Gulf Shores store, the new Fairhope location is aiming for a Sept. 20 opening date but said nothing is set in stone just yet.

"We're kind of, in these last two weeks, bringing in a lot of our team members from Gulf Shores to help us unpack and stage, but we still got a lot to do, so fingers crossed," said Megan Metz, general manager of the upcoming Fairhope location.

Starting in 2019, the franchise has quickly expanded across the United States over the past six years. They serve their signature doughnut they call the "Layered Doughnut," which is made with layers of dough and butter, then fried to where it's crisp on the outside and soft and flakey on the inside.

Kuch said they chose to open a store in downtown Fairhope because of the walkability of the area as well as the aesthetic of the building itself. The store will have an outdoor patio area that will potentially include games such as cornhole.
