Gulf Coast Newspapers has combined The Fairhope Courier and The Bulletin into one paper, which wil be called The Courier.
“We recognize that the three municipalities of Fairhope, Daphne and Spanish Fort, along with the communities of Point Clear, Barnwell, Montrose, Malbis and Belforest are unique, yet they are near each other geographically and socially,” said publisher Sudie Gambrell. “A resident will want to know about his or her community and will most likely also be interested in what is going on in the other Eastern Shore communities.
“For example, a resident of Daphne may be interested in seeing a play in Fairhope or finding out that road construction is taking place along the route to a favorite restaurant. On the other hand, a resident of Point Clear may want to know about the local new store at the Eastern Shore Centre, the great park that is only 15 minutes away, or the score of the nearby school’s football game. The interest levels for news and information along the Eastern Shore are high, and we want to provide a more comprehensive look at this area."
Current subscribers to The Fairhope Courier and The Bulletin will now receive The Courier twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays), giving them even more news and information than they have been receiving in the past. This enhanced newspaper will allow our readers to keep up with the entire length of the Eastern Shore.
Included in each issue of The Courier is our local sports section and our classified ads. Once a week each Tuesday we offer our People section, filled with news about and photos of Baldwin County people. Once a month, the third Friday of each month, we offer a new section titled Focus on Health, a pull-out section focusing on medical issues and health tips.
New to The Courier is a pullout section, Arts and Entertainment. This section contains feature stories along with a comprehensive calendar that will guide readers to the plays, art showings, book readings, musical performances, creative workshops and other offerings of interest in this area.
We look forward to feedback regarding The Courier, and we invite suggestions for making it even better. Our address is 325 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, AL 36532. Our telephone number is 251-928-2321.
