SPANISH FORT, Ala. – After sinking seven 3-pointers earlier, Dalton Owens was already on fire from outside. But he wasn't out, yet.

Tied 66-66 with 3.8 seconds left in the game, the Spanish Fort senior nailed his eighth trey and sent the Toros fans rushing the court and the home bench to celebrate the 69-66, 5A Area 2 win.

Owens' game-winning 3-pointer left him with 24 of his game-high 35 points from outside the arc against one of the toughest defensive teams in the state year in and year out, the Vigor Wolves, who visited SFHS Tuesday night.

Tejhaun Billingslea had 13 points with 12 rebounds, and sophomore Reagan Eubanks added 12 points, including two 3-pointers and going 3-for-3 at the line after being fouled from 3-point range. SF senior Ben Redman, who also hit eight threes in one game earlier this year, was held to five.

The Wolves' Marvin Shinn scored 34 points and Devonte Rhodes added 10 for Vigor (6-6, 0-1).

SFHS head coach Ernest Hill was proud of how his team, which only led once earlier to open the game 3-0 off the first Owens' trey, hung in and rallied back.

"Dalton hit the first (3-pointer) and he hit the last one," Hill said. "But it was a great team effort all around that got it done. I'm proud of how they hung in there, fighting to the end. They (the Wolves) were up by eight at the half and had us down 11 at one point, but we just kept fighting back. One thing we did not do well was we did not shoot free throws well tonight and that almost cost us the ball game. We make one and miss one. My sophomore, Reagan Eubanks, made some big shots for us. He stepped up and played like a senior tonight."

The Toros (6-1, 1-0, 5A Area 2), face Gardendale at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Coca-Cola Classic in Gulf Shores.
