The Original Oyster House restaurant will be awarding two $1,000 scholarships qualifying Baldwin County high school seniors who express artistic passion and ability, as a part of their Chelsea Garvin spirit award scholarship program.
According to the release, the scholarship program was created in memory of Chelsea Garvin, a 2004 graduate of Fairhope High School who lost her life in a 2005 boating accident.
"Chelsea Garvin (was) a 2004 graduate of Fairhope High School, Fish River Fire Department Rescue Diver, an Original Oyster House employee and a talented artist," the release stated.
According to the release, to qualify for the scholarship interested students must have participated in a recent school or community art event, and submit artwork that reflects the restaurant in some way.
