Congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed to the huge success of this year’s Friends of the Orange Beach Library Book Sale. A grand total of $5,411 was raised to support the Summer Reading Program, the Poetry Contest for K-12 students at all Pleasure Island Schools and other gifts that enrich the community’s Library experience. From the Friends volunteers, to the winter guests who showed up to help, to the city workers who pitched in, the event surpassed all expectations.

The annual book sale would not be possible without the year-round donations of books, CDs and videos from our generous community, as well as the sorters and organizers of the thousands of contributions. A huge thank you goes to Linda Tucker, who chaired the event, and to the Friends board members, who were her mainstay. A special thank you goes to Norma Hoots, who put together the elegant and delicious Preview Party and to Nancy Rempke, whose harp entertained us.

Finally, thank you to all our readers who showed up, purchased and enjoyed our book sale. All proceeds support our library and keep it in the forefront of enriching our community. Friends memberships begin at $12, and enrollment forms are available at the library. Various speakers are featured at the monthly meeting, held at the library on the second Wednesday at 10 a.m., and there are many volunteer and social opportunities for all members.
