Organizers hoping for cooler Hot Trot in November

GULF SHORES — Organizers are hoping for cooler weather when LuLu’s presents the Annual Doc’s Hot Trot for ARC 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run on Saturday, Nov. 6 at LuLu’s Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores.

The event was one of the oldest road course events in Baldwin County, running for 37 consecutive years before COVID-19 forced its cancellation in 2020.

In the past, the event has drawn more than 400 runners. So far, the 2021 event has surpassed the total raised through sponsorships in 2019 and organizers are hoping more runners will sign up as the event draws near. All proceeds benefit ARC of Baldwin County.

“We are hoping for nice weather, it will definitely be cooler than in year’s past,” said Rebecca Mills, Robertsdale Rotary Club president. “And we’re hoping runners will come out and support us in our efforts to raise money for a great organization.”

Register online until race day by going to active.com. After Oct. 29, registration for the 5K run and walk and 1-mile fun run/walk is $20 for students in grades K-12, $25 for adults. You can also find a link for registration at Robertsdalerotary.com or LuLuBuffett.com/Gulf Shores.

Packet pick-up and preregistration will be held Friday, Nov. 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. at LuLu’s. Day of race registration and packet pick-up begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6. The 5K race kicks off at 8 a.m. followed immediately by the 1-mile fun run at approximately 9 a.m.

The course is flat, quick and certified. Awards will be given for various age groups and divisions.
