Orange Beach softball's MK McMullan was named Alabama Player of the Year by MaxPreps for the 2026 season.
McMullan, a sophomore who pitches and plays first base, played a key role for the Makos during this year's campaign. Along with posting a 0.44 ERA on the mound, she also averaged .443 in the batter's box, recording 43 hits and 65 RBIs while swatting 13 home runs for the year.
McMullan's dominance also helped the Makos secure their sixth-consecutive state title, an AHSAA record. In the postseason, she pitched 22 innings while allowing just one earned run and five walks to go along with 17 strikeouts. She threw a 7-inning no-hitter in the first round against second-ranked West Limestone and also notched her 200th strikeout of the season in that game.
In the state title game, McMullan allowed four hits and just one walk while striking out four against Plainview. She was named the Class 4A State Tournament MVP for her efforts.
