Orange Beach to offer after-school sail camp

Posted

ORANGE BEACH, Ala.  — The City of Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center will be offering an after school sailing program for those students that have completed at least one session of summer sailing.

The after school sailing program is designed to promote youth sailing in the community throughout the year. All participants must be comfortable on the water and in the sailboats.

There will be two different sessions offered. The “green” fleet will be for those still needing a partner in the boat due to size and skill. The “red” fleet will be for those ready to single-hand the boat.

Classes begin the week of Aug 26. The green fleet will meet on most Mondays and Wednesdays, and the red fleet will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each fleet will have a total of eight sessions (20 hours total). The cost is $180 per sailor.

Please contact Caroline Harris at 251-974-7245 or email charris@cityoforangebeach.com with further questions or to obtain an application.   You can also find info at www.obparksandrec.com.
