If you were hoping to improve your backhand this summer in Orange Beach you will need to find a temporary court because the Orange Beach Tennis Center is under construction.

The $1.46 million renovation and drainage improvement project began June 1 with the removal of the current courts. The project includes eight hard surface tennis courts on the same footprint and drainage improvements to the Recreation Center Campus.

The tennis center opened in May 2002 and is always busy with tennis players young and old. The upgrades to the aging facility are expected to wrap up late September or early October
