Orange Beach State of the City meeting set for Jan. 17

Posted

Orange Beach—The Orange Beach Citizens Association (OBCA), will host a “State of the City” forum, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Orange Beach Community Center.

The regular Orange Beach City Council meeting will be held prior to the meeting at 5 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend both meetings.

The meeting will begin with a short update on City business by City of Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon. Also to be discussed is the Restoration Act and its potential impact on South Baldwin County.

The Restoration Act deals, in part, with the distribution of the fine money paid by BP due to the 2010 oil spill. This will be followed by a public forum where other future business of the City of Orange Beach will be discussed. This is a vital meeting to the future of Orange Beach and all citizens are encouraged to attend and to express their opinions.

OBCA was formed last year by local residents dedicated to being responsive to the needs of Orange Beach residents and to monitor city meetings on matters and issues affecting its citizens. The group was also instrumental in supporting members of the present council during the city elections in 2008.
