ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The 21st Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival has been moved to March 2 as organizers are expecting rains on Saturday.
“If we were to have to move it because of the weather, we would move it to the events center at The Wharf,” Robert Stuart of the Orange Beach Sports Association said. Stuart said his group is hoping for better weather March 2 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
This festival is the Association's major fundraiser to support sports-related activities in our community, specifically youth baseball, softball and T-Ball. Proceeds are used to purchase uniforms, equipment, insurance, and pay for expenses of officials and sponsor clinics.
Blalock Seafood is the title sponsor for this year’s event.
Starting at 10 a.m. there will be live entertainment featuring Elaine Petty, Top Hat and Jackie, Brett Burns, Sweet Charlie Brown, The Arron Boys, Vertigo Haze.
At the youth performance pavilion there will be the Island Voices Performance Choir, Savannah Litton, Hyper Aggression Band and displays from the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. There will also be a Kid’s Zone with games and inflatables and a climbing wall.
Oh, and seafood. For $10 you can get a seafood plate with a choice of fried shrimp, fried fish, grilled fish or a grilled chicken breast served with Orange Beach grits, corn fritters and cole slaw. Serving will start at 10 a.m. as well and will continue until 4 p.m. or the food runs out. Alabama Wild Seafood donated the shrimp.
There will also be an open car show featuring 60 -80 cars with judging at 2:30 p.m. and awards given out at the main pavilion at 3 p.m.
More than 50 vendors will set up booths offering arts and crafts, food and information for festivalgoers.
Shuttles will be running from Canal Road to the festival site. Look for signs and places to park and catch a ride to the Sportsplex.
