Orange Beach Middle & High School has been named a recipient of the Alabama Attorney General's Safe Schools Award for the second consecutive year.
The selection process featured a comprehensive four phase application and review process by highly educated judges who have skill and knowledge in school safety trends. Nine schools from across the State of Alabama were selected to receive the Safe School Award, the highest achievement.
Schools are evaluated on emergency preparedness, coordination with local law enforcement and emergency responders, staff training and the effective use of safety technology.
Orange Beach Middle & High School distinguished itself across all areas of review.
"Receiving the Safe Schools Award for the second year in a row speaks volumes about the commitment of our staff, students and community partners," said Principal Chris Shaw. "Safety is not a one-time achievement; it's an ongoing priority. I'm incredibly proud of the intentional work our team does every day to ensure Orange Beach Middle & High School remains a safe place for learning."
Attorney General Steve Marshall said, "Through the Alabama Safe Schools Initiative, we are proud to recognize schools that are leading the way with innovative, proactive approaches to student safety. This year's winners have formulated and simulated critical collaboration that demonstrates a strong commitment to creating secure environments where learning can thrive. Their dedication sets a powerful example, and I look forward to continuing to highlight effective school safety strategies for administrators, school resource officers, parents and students across Alabama."
Attorney General Marshall will formally present the 2025 Safe Schools Award to Orange Beach Middle and High School later this year in March.
