ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — An Orange Beach man was arrested this week and charged with raping a minor.
Daniel Lee Richardson, 27, was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Baldwin County Corrections Center.
After a female under the age of 16 reported she had been raped to a Gulf Shores school personnel, the Orange Beach police were alerted.
Police Chief Tim Wilkins said he was not sure which school the minor contacted.
According to assistant police Chief Greg Duck, Richardson was an acquaintance of the girl’s family and the department is investigating the case to determine if the rape was ongoing.
Duck said Richardson has no prior criminal record with the city of Orange Beach, and the department is currently searching records in his home state of Kansas.
Richardson was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Center Jan. 21 and charged with first-degree rape.
According to jail records, Richardson’s address is listed as 5594 Virginia St., Orange Beach.
Alabama state law states first-degree rape is a Class A felony punishable by 10 to 99 years in prison upon conviction.
