ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - A Certificate of Recognition was presented to the Sirens of the Sea Mardi Gras Society in honor of their 10-year anniversary at the May 28 Orange Beach City Council meeting.
In May 2002, five insightful women, Oliveth Archer, Ann Mitchell, Linda Pacatte, Wilma Trent and Allyson Walters decided it was time for the first Ladies Mardi Gras Krewe in the Pleasure Island area.
From this beginning, the Sirens have become a successful, fun loving, and giving group of women. They take part in the Annual Costal Cleanup, present an annual scholarship to a local high school senior, adopt families at Christmas, and contribute annually to chosen charities such as The Lighthouse, Christian Service Center, Mary’s Shelter and Orange Beach Elementary School.
The Sirens also host an elegant Mardi Gras Ball and their prancing sea horse float and their gorgeous mermaid float grace the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Mardi Gras parades each year.
Now entering their 11th year, the Sirens look forward to many more years of sharing with the wonderful community that they love.
