The Orange Beach bowling Makos who finished as the Class 1A-5A state runners-up were recently recognized by the City School Board before its meeting on Thursday, March 13.

The first Red Map trophy in program history was brought to Orange Beach City Hall where members of the team were celebrated for their achievement.

Senior Daigle Wilson, an Auburn softball signee, led the invocation before she and the Mako athletes led the Pledge of Allegiance to start the meeting. Teagan Revette, Addy Oldham, Miley Kate McMullan and Linley Bennett were among the other Orange Beach bowling representatives on hand.

The Makos used three-straight wins to emerge from the consolation bracket to the championship match against Scottsboro where they suffered their first loss of the season, 1342-1148, to finish 16-1 overall and Red Map winners. Orange Beach head coach Phill Clemons was named the girls' Class 1A-5A Coach of the Year by the Alabama High School Bowling Coaches Association.
