Orange Beach City Schools (OBCS) announced that Orange Beach Elementary School (OBES) has been recognized as a Top 25 school in Alabama through the Legislative School Performance Recognition Program for the 2024-2025 school year.

According to a news release, OBES earned a 99 on the 2025 State Report Card and has demonstrated high academic standards and continuous improvement.

The latest honor was formally recognized during the Alabama State Board of Education meeting held Feb. 12 in Montgomery.

Each year, the Alabama State Department of Education identifies schools across the state for outstanding achievement through the Legislative School Performance Recognition Program.

Schools are recognized in one of two categories:
- High Performance: Schools ranked in the top 25 percent of public schools based on the state school grading system.

- Exemplary Progress: Schools that improve their overall annual ranking by at least one letter grade.

The top 25 schools in each category are honored and provided with a monetary award in recognition of their achievement. OBES earned distinction as a Top 25 school based on its performance in the 2024-2025 state school grading system.

“Our students work hard every day, our teachers are passionate about instruction and our families are engaged partners in education. We are honored to be recognized among the top schools in our state,” Principal Mary Catherine Law said in the release.
