ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — An open forum will be held at the Orange Beach Community Center on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. sponsored by the Orange Beach Citizens Association (OBCA).

The meeting will follow the regularly scheduled City Council work session to be held at 5 p.m.

Ron David helped start the organization in April of 2008, dedicated to being responsive to the needs of Orange Beach residents and monitor city meetings on matters and issues affecting it citizens.

“We started the OBCA with about 8 or 10 people who were really concerned about some of the things that the previous administration was doing,” David said.

The group held five open forums before the election, then held another meeting in the spring regarding issues with the toll bridge.

“The format for this meeting will be a little different than we have had before,” said David. “I got with Mayor Kennon and City Administrator Ken Grimes and coordinated this forum with the City.

“The OBCA will basically run the meeting, but we will give time to the mayor, the council and our city department heads to address whatever they need to address.”

The forum will begin with a short update on the city’s activities, events and issues, and will conclude with a question and answer period from the residents.

This forum is part of the events taking place to celebrate the city’s 25th anniversary. Forms will be available for anyone wishing to join the OBCA.
