Orange Beach Buzz: Yolanda on the Island

What’s the buzz around OBA?  The Peer Helper Program in our Island schools is very active in times of crisis and this program is supported by the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation and its primary fundraiser, the JCMF Rodeo on August 1-3 at the Foley Arena.  This organization supports the Peer Helper Program in all 42 public schools in Baldwin County. 

Consider donating school supplies to our island schools through the Alabama Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce School Supply Drive. 

Consider sponsoring the rodeo on the web at www.jennifermoorefoundation.com  First time at The Wharf Amphitheatre is Casting Crowns with special guest Francesca Battistelli on August 1.  There are group rates available by contacting jenniferf@alwharf.com .    Are you ready for some football?  There’s none like the SEC!  Legendary coaches are schedule to be on the island during SEC Beach Fest August 15-18.  Purchase your tickets today at  www.secbeachfest.com

School starts back on the island on August 19.  So prepare to stop for all buses. 

Local businesses are invited to join the Alabama Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce during its Membership Drive August 19-22 with great promotional benefits to new members. 

The authors of the book “Heaven is For Real” will make their first appearance in Alabama at the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach for book signing on August 23 at 10am.  Followed by an event with the Burpos and band at the Orange Beach Event Center at 7pm. Baldwin County Junior Miss Program at Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette on August 24.  Consider sponsoring one of our young ladies as they compete for scholarship funds. 

Back to School Bash at Orange Beach United Methodist Church, 5:00-7:00, Sunday, August 25, which includes water slides for all ages.  See you around town!
