ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- Summertime, Summertime, sum, sum, summer art time:

It is time to register for Summer Arts Camp 2012. The Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach offers a Summer Arts Camp, hosted by Friends of the Arts, for rising first through rising seventh graders every summer.

This year’s camp is June 25-29 The registration deadline is June 1. Fees are $125 for the first child, $110 per sibling. KinderArts fees are $80 for the week.

For the first time, SAC 2012 is offering a limited enrollment KinderArts class for children who will be in K5 in the fall of 2012. No more than 15 children will be accepted for this class, which will be from 9 a.m.-noon each day of camp in a self-contained classroom.

All other (not K5) SAC campers rotate through five different classes each day, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3:15 p.m. Most classes are held indoors at the First Baptist Church of Orange Beach — glass and pottery classes are held in dedicated studios at the Arts Center.

During their mid-day break, campers will eat lunch and participate in “Arts Alive!”: very large, very active art experiences. This year’s experiences will include blow pipe splash painting, pvc architecture, Bob the Art Car and more.

SAC 2012 campers may choose from 11 different subjects. Subjects and instructors are: Acrylics, taught by Zack Baisden; Dance, taught by Melodye Redding; Drama, directed by Douglas Watkins; Drawing and Graphic Arts, taught by Shaun Conroy; Glass Art, taught by Sam Cornman; Introduction to Instruments, led by Tim Brannan; Mosaics, taught by Carolyn Wagner; Pastels, instructed by Tommy Vogel; Pottery, taught by Emily Revere; Watercolors, taught by Rich Willows; and Voice/Performance Choir, led by Gay James.
