The Optimist Club of Perdido Bay will host its 21st Annual Kids Fishing Rodeo from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 2, at Schaff Pond, 32695 Bartel St.

The free event is open to boys and girls ages 2 to 12 and is designed to introduce young participants to fishing in a family-friendly setting. Children and teens must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants are asked to bring their own chairs, buckets, fishing poles and bait. Organizers note that all catfish are catch and release, while bass and bream may be kept.

Awards will be presented for the longest fish, shortest fish and most fish caught, both overall and within age groups.

Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided at no cost.

Schaff Pond is located north of Elberta. From County Road 93, travel north for one mile, then turn west onto Bartell Road and continue four tenths of a mile. The pond will be on the right.
