LILLIAN, Ala. -- Members of the Optimist Club
of Perdido Bay recently heard about new breakthroughs in health
care using Image Guided Stem Cell Therapy.
Dr. Jason Williams of Precision Imaging of
Gulf Shores gave an overview of the process of using an
individual’s own stem cells gleaned from fat cells to treat certain
health problems.
Stem cells in fat are easily found and easily
harvested through liposuction. These cells are plentiful and
renewable. An advanced stem cell processing system allows large
numbers of stem cells to be harvested from the patient’s own
tissues and accurately deliver them to heal damaged tissue under
image guidance during the same procedure.
The procedure can be used to treat arthritis,
sports injuries, tendon/ligament tears, degenerative and herniated
discs. Stem cells are stimulated by damaged tissue to repair tissue
to its original strength, a matter of the body healing itself.
In the future this therapy may be used in
organ replacement, to treat spinal cord injuries, in neuro/brain
repair such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases and stroke,
autoimmune diseases including Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, lung
diseases like emphysema, diabetes and muscle loss/wasting.
The Optimist Club of Perdido Bay meets for
breakfast at 8 a.m. every Saturday in the Lillian Community Club.
Men and women interested in “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” are
invited to attend.
