Optimist Club of Perdido Bay bring kids to Santa

Posted

Besides hosting the 40-unit Lillian Christmas Parade on Dec. 10 and the Breakfast with Santa for more than 100 kids on Dec. 17, members of the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay took time to visit Special Needs classes at Foley and Elberta Elementary and Middle Schools on Dec. 15.

They brought specially chosen toys for each boy and girl in 10 classrooms. Participating in the project were OCPB President Bill Cornell, Willie Nell Evans, Georgeann Haught, Rod Haught, Lee Hoffman, Sally McKinney, Ken Sanders, Liz Whitehurst , Andy Wilkinson, Sondra Wilkinson (who helped Santa’s Elves choose the gifts), Jim and Jane Wright (who arranged for Santa and Mrs. Claus to participate), and Bill Youngs.
Thanks to all the OCPB members and members of the Lillian Community who support the annual Mullet Festival on Labor Day weekend, the major source of funding for the Optimist Club projects.
