LILLIAN, Ala. -- BP Oil claims were the subject of the program presented to the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay recently. Attorney Ray Thompson of Mobile explained the claims are categorized by Zone and type of industry as well as private use of property.
Zone A businesses may assess their losses by comparing financials from previous years and may be covered against future losses and paid according to a formula described in the settlement.
Lillian is in Zone C. Property owners on Perdido Bay may be able to claim loss of enjoyment of property due to the fact that they were unable to swim or use their boats and other recreational water sport vehicles.
Claims for medical problems will also be considered for clean up workers, participants in the Vessels of Opportunity program and other who may have come in contact with the oil or fumes.
The Optimist Club of Perdido Bay meets at 8 a.m. for breakfast every Saturday in the Lillian Community Club. Their breakfast is legendary with a buffet of French toast or blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, potatoes, meat, biscuits and gravy and other delectables. Guests are always welcome. The club is dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” and donates approximately $20,000 a year to children of all ages.
