Leonard C. “Barney” Oom, 83, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a longtime resident of Foley, died Wednesday, June 12, 2007.
He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4249 and American Legion Post 44. He was also a member of Gulf Coast Elk’s Lodge 2782.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Oom; two children, Richard Oom and Gary Oom, both of Grand Rapids; step-son, Drew Campbell of Grand Rapids; sister, Christine Lindholt of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at American Legion Post 44 in Gulf Shores.
The family will hold graveside services in Grand Rapids.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
