Jackie Strong, a Gulf Shores native, was spending a sunny Wednesday afternoon busily renting parasail and banana boat rides.
She has lived in Gulf Shores all her life and is dreading the impending landfall of oil from BP’s Gulf of Mexico spill.
The 22-year-old was working with Pleasure Island Parasail on the beach in front of the Pink Pony.
“Today has been the busiest day we’ve had since the oil spill,” Strong said. “I think people are thinking ‘it’s gonna be here and we need to get in as much beach fun as we can.’ ”
She’s hoping her summer job will continue, but says ominous signs are out there.
“The guys (driving boats) say it really stinks out there and it is really soapy,” she said.
