Oakley's Wine Bar and Bistro brings elevated dining experience to downtown Elberta

The people behind Oakley’s Wine Cellar in Elberta have brought to Baldwin County an elevated dining experience with Oakley’s Wine Bar and Bistro.

Located at 25022 State Street in downtown Elberta, it was originally envisioned by owners Joy and Lee Sullivan. The restaurant was planned to be a place for pizzas, charcuteries and flatbreads, but according to head chef Ashley Cabana, the restaurant expanded beyond its original vision. It is located behind Oakley’s Wine Cellar, with patrons having to walk around under the signage out front. Cabana described it as having an atmosphere similar to a speakeasy with a full bar, indoor seating and an outdoor patio.

“It’s pretty amazing honestly, and no one can actually believe it’s in Elberta,” Cabana said. “This community is growing at a rapid pace. There’s an extreme amount of people that have flocked to this area. It’s beautiful out here. It’s a great location. Who knows what’s next, but I can tell you that Oakley’s is starting to make a mark and we hope that great things are on the horizon.”

They serve hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood provided by local fishermen, along with pastas, dips, salads and charcuterie boards. They also serve dessert, including a “Blueberry Dream” pie based on a recipe from Cabana’s mother, which features layers of blueberry, graham cracker with whipped cream and topped with locally picked blueberries.

They also have seasonal items, with Cabana saying they have made a menu specifically for the summer with food such as a watermelon and arugula salad. Along with the food, they also serve drinks, including a specialty cocktail menu and a curated wine selection.

Having opened last fall, Cabana said they have crafted a new menu based on community feedback, saying they “took everything to heart,” with something for everyone with a twist.

“We love the community,” Cabana said. “We thank them so much for helping us grow and making this what it is and our employees mean the world to us and they are the reason we are here and we’ll continue to grow. That means a lot to us, so we hope for great things on the horizon and hopefully everyone will come out and support Oakley’s in this new menu that we just turned out.”

Oakley’s Wine Bar and Bistro is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4-9 p.m. and Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
