No, a Cheesecake Factory is not coming to Daphne.

A post circulated on social media this weekend claiming the chain would add a location in the Daphne area, telling users to stay tuned for an exact address and opening date. The post was shared online with many locals expressing their excitement.

GCM confirmed on Feb. 23 that there are currently no official plans for a Cheesecake Factory to open in Daphne or anywhere in Baldwin County. Daphne Mayor Robin LeJeune said the city is unaware of any plans to bring one to the area.

"No one has notified the City of Daphne with any intention to open a Cheesecake Factory," Mayor LeJeune told GCM. "We think this is fake."

The post itself features grammatical errors, with the website provided, encouraging users to join their eClub for special offers, spelled "TheCheesecaKeFator.com." It is currently not known where the post originated from or who authored it.

A representative for Cheesecake Factory told GCM the chain is always on the lookout for new places to open.

"Our restaurant development team is always on the lookout for premier sites to further grow The Cheesecake Factory brand presence, and all sites that fit our criteria for success will be seriously considered," said Alethea Rowe, senior director of public relations and global branding at The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated.
